Welcome
The University Church of St Mary the Virgin is one of England's most visited and historically important churches. In addition to being a centre for worship, more than 300,000 people per year visit as tourists and pilgrims, and the church is a popular venue for concerts, lectures and other public events.
In December 2012 the building and restoration phase of our Lottery funded project, 'Education, Heritage and Renewal in the 21st Century', came to an end. A huge thank you is owed to all of those teams of people and individuals who have contributed to the successful restoration of this magnificent building and helped to conserve it for generations to come.
The focus will now shift onto the interpretation and learning aspects of the project as newly developed trails, panels and education programmes are put in place. Throughout the next phase of the project we will be hosting events, workshops, lectures, services, concerts and performances, all of which you can follow in our blog.
